Pondering installing some new waynes coating? Wainscoting is a decorative method that is well-known for generating a number of moods and ambiances, from modern and professional to quaint and Victorian and is great for many applications including redecorating a hospital, beautifying a resort, or simply beautifying your own house. Below are a few ways you can make use of beadboard to create spectacular fresh looks with already established elements.

What is a beadboard? In essence, it’s the freshly installed area beneath the wainscoting. There are a variety of various textures, materials, and colours to choose from when it comes to picking your new beadboard. These boards can also be useful for protecting busier locations of your house as well, specifically hallways and bedrooms. It might be a good idea to have professionals install the beadboard as an alternative if you are using higher priced materials such as hardwoods, however, it is possible to install it easily on your own, depending on the material you choose.

By definition, using planks of materials to produce a up and down striped pattern, is how beadboard is characterized. There are also horizontal designs that may be installed instead that some homeowners and properties choose. In either case, this lends the opportunity to produce a variety of various appearances. For example, if you prefer a homey, laid-back look, installing an attractive cedar or pine beadboard under a wainscot border of similar material is really a perfect method to switch your family room or bed room in to a romantic room. To create a fascinating, sophisticated, professional mien that is perfect for offices and resorts, try using more costly woods like mahogany, cherry, or maple.

Wood isn’t the only material used in beadboard, of course. Vinyl is another common material for beadboard. Available in a variety of colours, textures, and styles, you will be able to get something which will match just about any room. You will find really low upkeep with vinyl beadboard as it is a plastic that is naturally stain resistant, fade proof, and scratch resistant. The most maintenance it usually requires is a simple washing with water and soap every so often—there is no need to apply sealants or even polishes. The only disadvantage to using a vinyl beadboard is that it is a very pricey endeavor indeed.

These are just a few facts to consider while looking for the best beadboard in your case. To have an arty, trendy twist, you can alternate various colours or create a uniform, solid look. Beadboard is well suited for both protecting and decorating your wall, irrespective of what decorative technique you choose to make use of. Find out more today about how exactly wainscoting will benefit and enhance your property.

Start With White and Work From There

December 25th, 2009

Celebrities are undeniable fashion and style icons, and this spills over into interior design as well. In actual fact, a survey was recently done by the Better Home Exhibition that revealed celebrities were among the top sources of inspiration for people updating their own homes. In reality of course, most celebrities employ professional designers to consult on the hottest trends and rarely do the work themselves.

An interior designer to some of Hollywood’s biggest stars has told one newspaper that people wanting to create an impressive room can structure their design around a centerpiece, such as a piece of white  bedroom furniture. Usually this is quite a large piece such as big white wardrobes, and it can afford to be as it is a neutral colour. The same cannot be said for other colours in the spectrum, which, when used on a grand scale tend to dominate a room and leave very little room for maneuver in terms of colour.

Kelly Wearstler told the Daily Mail that a big, bold centrepiece can provide inspiration and ideas for the rest of a room’s design, such as the bedside table or curtain design, and said that she loves the use of white and black to create contrast.  She is not the only one to adopt the contrasting of black and white in design as many professionals in New York have been using this in client’s homes for years.

She reportedly stated “the universal qualities of black and white make them my two favorite colours to use. It’s the textures and materials that make it interesting.” She noted that a number of her clients have been amazed at just how much more they got from a once ‘nothing’ room, just by using simple contrasting black and whites.

Lastly the designer said that combining black and white with other colors gives a crisp look and makes a room feel organised. “It’s not a simple thing to get right, but if you’re strict with the colors you use, you can pull off a very sleek look”.

Bed Linen And Candles: Simple Tips For Decorating

October 24th, 2009

It can take time and creativity to design your perfect room. If you haven’t decorated a house before, below are some hints to take into consideration before you start. There are some very basic things to get you started.

1) If there is more than just you living in the house, the first thing you need to do is think about the personalities of the other people you are living with. Create designs you really like if you are living by yourself. Problems can occur when two people live together with opposing design preferences. Compromise and negotiate on colour, furniture and accessories so you end up with rooms you both like.

2) To get a good idea of themes and colours that you like, have a look in magazines and interior design journals. It can be hard to get creative and form ideas when you are looking at blank walls so these magazines should help.

3) The colours of the room will set the tone for the space so really take your time on that one. If there are any colours that you really don’t like, don’t use them. You might have chosen your furniture already, or be using some that you already have, if this is the case make sure you pick colours that works with this. You can draw upon some of the colours in fabrics you will use in the room. Make sure you buy bed linen that complements the colour of the walls.

4) When you put your furniture pieces in the room, keep in mind the flow of the space you are in. Unless the room you are decorating is huge, you do not want it to look any smaller. Move the furniture around the room until you are happy with it.

5) Accessories can really liven up a room and make it look like a home instead of a show room. Plants and fresh cut flowers are great to put into any room. They have life in them that gives a comfortable feeling to any space. Put some nice photos on the walls and include your favourite ornaments into the design.

Design doesn’t have to be hard. Just find a style that suits you and have fun experimenting with colour and furnishings until you have a room that compliments your lifestyle.

Bedroom Interior Design

September 17th, 2009

Interior design has become a profitable industry as we have come to understand that our sight has a large impact on our mind. You can literally change a person’s mood with the right interior design. You will notice that shops which relax you have focused their design on comfort, luxury and relaxation. Our eyesight is the window to our soul and what we see affects us, interior design has an obvious impact on this.

Provide The Right Mood In The Bedroom.

We use our bedroom as a sanctuary of relaxation, where we can refresh after the day and prepare to sleep.

Colour has the biggest impact on us as it is the first factor of interior design that enters the eye, and colour should be manipulated to be relaxing. The most relaxing colours are pastel shades.

The furniture and its positioning will also have an impact on our mood. Bedroom interior design must be simple and most of the times minimal in order to provide you with open spaces that usually inspires relaxation. You can be unconsciously effected by over crowding which produces a negative mood.

If however, you choose to use your bedroom interior design for setting the mood of a romantic evening all you have to do is, change the bed linen from pastel soft colour sheets to bright red or black in satin or silk. Instead of the electric light use only candles, which will create shadows and thus, cover the soothing colours of your walls and carpets and emphasise the bright seducing colours of the bed sheet.

Other Helpful Tips For The Bedroom Interior Design.

Keep the bedroom interior design minimal, neat and always clean but also don’t forget to add some change and colour with every season in order to keep it exciting and adventurous. Changing your bedroom interior design should only be done to suit an occasion or festivity as constant major changes will actually induce restlessness instead of relaxation until you get used to the sight and sounds and once again be able to relax and enjoy your bedroom interior design.
