So, you have just finished a room decorating project. You've taken great care in the placement of the furniture. The window treatments are perfect. Yet, the room is missing one last important piece - Wall Art - to accent those vertical spaces.

Using wall art, is not only a way to fill in those empty spaces but more importantly, it's your signature in the room. Furniture is nice, floors and architectural features might reflect your sense of aesthetics, but when it comes to decorating with wall art - there is just no doubt about the influence you have on your living space.

The most frugal way of finding and then framing your perfect wall art is to shop on line. Shopping on line is the better choice when looking for that perfect accent piece - for 3 simple reasons.

First, no matter what you may be looking for, be it a period piece, a modern abstract, a print or photo you will be able to find them on one site. By shopping for wall art on line, you can take your time and enjoy the benefit of right to your door delivery.

You can custom size your art. If you are having trouble fitting or finding that right sized piece of wall art to fit that unusual space. Online wall art providers will do a great job of customizing the size and frame to accomodate those uncommon wall spaces. They can also accommodate your larger spaces as well.

The standard rule for adding wall art above a furniture peice is that it should be 2/3rds of its length. An average sofa's length is between 80 to 90 inches. So, 50" to 60" would be the best size to use to complement your couch.

Framed wall art can become a very expensive accent, even if you create groupings rather than use 1 large image.

If you have ever attempted to find a picture suitable for your decorating scheme by shopping from store to store…it often ends up being an exercise in futility. Many people will give up and settle for something "OK" rather than what they really wanted…the perfect image.

So, that’s 2nd Benefit of decorating with wall art the frugal way by buying wall art online. With the almost unlimited generas, artists and period peices of art you will find the art you want in the perfect size you need it to be.

The final benefit is one I cannot emphasis enough. I can honestly gurantee you will save a lot of money if you buy your wall art on line. How?

- The convience of shopping at home cannot be beat. Day or night, regardless of weather and gas prices.

- Framing wall art on line is substantially cheaper. Web site art suppliers buy in bulk and complete your order on site. Local framers charge much more to frame your piece because the do the job one at a time and cannot benefit from the massive quantity discounts given to larger framing companies. These discounts are passed on to you.

- If you don't like the completed result…you recieve a strong guarantee with each order. Local framers may accommodate your disappointment but it may cost you more for them to fix it.

4 Ways to Display Art in Your Home

If you have a favorite piece of art but are unsure as to how to display it, there are a couple of different options to choose from. Rather than settling with simply hanging your piece of art on the wall, choose from one of these creative ways to display art in your home instead.

Use Ribbon to Hang Art on the Wall
Instead of simply hanging your piece of art using a nail in the wall, consider using a ribbon. Carefully choose your ribbon so that it adds to the art and complements it well.

You can do this by placing a hook or a screw on the back of the art piece and hanging ribbon either in the middle of the piece or from both sides. Use a small nail or place a hook on the wall to hang it from. Just be sure that the piece of art is hanging evenly, particularly if you’re using more than one ribbon to hang it by.

Place Artwork on a Decorative Shelf
Another option is to use a decorative shelf to display art in your home. No matter what style of art you are looking to display, there are all types of decorative shelves and ledges that will add to the beauty of the piece.

You want to be sure that the shelf you choose is the appropriate size for the piece you are going to display. Instead of displaying only one piece, you might also choose to display a collection of art on the shelf. Before placing any artwork on your shelf or ledge, it’s important to be sure that it’s properly installed on the wall.

Use a Fireplace Mantel to Display Art
A nice fireplace mantel makes a great display area for your art, which will also work to draw more attention to the mantel itself. Rather than going the traditional route of hanging the artwork above the mantel, try placing the piece on the mantel and up against the wall instead.

The artwork should be smaller than the mantel. However, you don’t want it too small so that you can’t really see the art. If necessary, place two or three smaller pieces of art on the mantel, rather than just sticking with one small one. The artwork needs to be secured, so that it doesn’t fall down off the mantel.

Find Unique Hangers for the Art
Artwork can be hung on the wall using several different things that you’ve probably never even thought to use. A great option is your favorite stocking holder, which can be nailed to the wall and used to hold your favorite piece of art.

For another unique artwork hanger, find a rope or a chain that you can hang from the ceiling or the top of the wall. One piece can be hung from it or several pieces. Hang the artwork either vertically or horizontally, depending on the length of the wall. You can actually create something like a clothesline, hanging your pieces of art across a blank wall.

There are so many unique ways to display pieces of art in your home that you don’t have to settle for the same old traditional options. Whatever the style or theme of your décor is, there are plenty of creative and crafty ways to display art in your home. With a little creativity, you can use one of these ideas for displaying art in your home in a unique way.
